The Rev. Claudia D. Raggie, Pastor
Pastor Raggie was ordained a pastor 1982 through Christ Seminary-Seminex, St. Louis, Missouri. She has been a team pastor in Baldwin, M0. and E. Northport, NY. She as been Lead Pastor at Holy Cross Lutheran Church since 1996. She loves her Lord and loves the people of Holy Cross. She sets the tone of the ministry by leading excellent worship, encouraging
prayer requests and inviting all to participate in the life of the ministry and mission of HCLC with hands on service. She has introduced a more contemporary flare to our worship. Pastor Raggie seeks to lead people to become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. And she believes that the local church, as God designed it, is the hope of the world.
Suzanne Beckles, Synodical Deacon
Suzanne Beckles is a Synodical Deacon at Holy Cross, where she started with her holy baptism, first holy communion, Sunday school and confirmation. She began her studies as a Deacon in 2013 and was set apart as a Synodical Deacon in 2018. Suzanne serves as a team member with our extended worship ministry at two assisted living facilities. She has also been a confirmation teacher at Holy Cross since 2015. In addition, Suzanne coordinates the worship assistant team and acolytes during our worship services. She is currently looking to form a team for our Liturgical Dance Ministry.
Doris Ahrens, Church Deacon
Doris Ahrens is Church Deacon at Holy Cross Lutheran Church. She has been a member of Holy Cross for over 50 years. She has served as a teacher in Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and Confirmation. As Deacon, she leads the worship team bringing worship to the residents at Lake Shore Assisted Living Facility, Lake Ronkonkoma and Arbors Assisted Living, Bohemia. She also makes visits to the home-bound and those in the hospital.
Kenneth Zagare, Minister of Music
Kenny has been at Holy Cross since January 2006, and leads our worship choir and festival choir. He received his BM in Music Education from the Crane School of Music, and completed his MS in Education at SUNY Stony Brook. He is the pianist for the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra Nassau & Suffolk County Symphonic Choirs. He sings with the eVoco vocal ensemble which tours Long Island giving concerts. He is also the choral director at Malverne High School in Nassau County.
Barbara Drewes, Church Administrator
Barbara joined the family of Holy Cross in November 1999 and has participated in many special projects and shared in various ministries including choir, the Church Council and Outreach.
She became Church Administrator in February 2008 and continues to enjoy the
opportunities she has to serve the congregation
Sue Taylor, Sound Technician
Sue has been a member of Holy Cross for over 60 years beginning with her baptism. She has served on the Church Council and as a teacher with the Sunday School ministry in addition to other projects. She has been volunteering as a backup to the Technology Administrator since 2014. Her knowledge of sound and media was acquired in her service with the U.S. Navy, and her technical skills from a career in Biomedical Engineering spanning 30 years of repairing medical equipment in an operating room environment.
Mary Beth Heinicke -
& CSW, Eldercare
Mary Beth is a confirmation teacher at Holy Cross, in addition to her duties as Technology Administrator. She is an elder care social worker and feels blessed to be part of the Holy Cross staff.
Kathy Stuerzel, Bookkeeper
Kathy has been a member of Holy Cross since 2003 and became the church bookkeeper in 2014. She also volunteers with the Outreach and Landscaping Ministries.
Anne Biondo, Church Sexton
Anne has been a member of the church for many years. She served on the Noah's Ark Preschool Board, and sang with the choir, in addition to serving as the fellowship hall sexton for 11 years. In addition, she has been running the meal madness program for confirmation for over four years.
Angela Bello, Deacon Intern
Angela graduated in 2020 from the 2 year diaconate program. She is now doing her internship at Holy Cross. She has served as a worship assistant both at Holy Cross and Lake Shore Assisted Living Facility. Angela also helps with Family Fun Night as well as correlates church bulletins for all services. As her ministry and for the past 3 years, she has organized a team to help in establishing a food pantry that services the Sachem and Connetquot School Districts as well as Central Suffolk County. The food pantry means everything to her!
Bob Lewis, Deacon Intern
Bob graduated from the 2 year diaconate program in 2020 and is now doing his internship at Holy Cross, where he has been a member for the past 15 years. He currently serves the congregation as the church council President, worship assistant and choir member.
