Holy Cross’ unit of the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America held their Annual Welca Dinner on Tuesday, June 12th at the Red Lobster in Ronkonkoma.
WELCA Calendar
November 18th - WELCA Evening Circle Meeting... Holy Cross’ Evening Circle unit of WELCA (Women of the Evangelical Church in America) will be meeting on Tuesday evening, November 18th, at 7:30 pm in CrossWords & Gifts new street level location at Holy Cross (the former church Library). We will be continuing our Bible study on “Discovering the Power of Prayer” by Max Lucado, led by Dee Hecker. Please join us! All women are welcome!
November 23rd - WELCA Bake Sale... The women of our HCLC WELCA (Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church Unit in America) will be offering yummy, home-baked goodies for sale. Stop by their table between services and pick up something delicious for your Thanksgiving dinner table. The funds raised by WELCA are used during the year to support their outreach programs.
November 25th - WELCA Reading Circle Meeting... Our next WELCA Reading Circle Meeting will be at 7:30 pm in CrossWords & Gifts new street level location at Holy Cross (the former church Library). We will be finishing up the Max Lucado book, “It’s Not About Me.”
DDECEMBER 9th - WELCA Christmas Cookie Exchange...
On Tuesday, December 9th, our women of WELCA will once again be meeting in faith and fellowship for their Annual Christmas Cookie Exchange - this year at Calvary Lutheran Church, 870 Townline Road, Hauppauge, right next to Temple Beth Chair. The cross street is Mount Pleasant Road. Bring an empty container and 3 dozen cookies to put on the table to exchange. It is a wonderful evening of celebration and fellowship. All women are welcome. Car pooling will be available. (Additional details to follow.)

WELCA Cookie Exchange... This past year, Holy Cross hosted the WELCA Annual Cookie Exchange on Tuesday, December 4th, bringing together women from local ELCA churches in fun and fellowship (and cookie sharing!). All women were invited to “exchange” cookies. There was refreshments and a skit - “Emmanuel With Us” - a dramatic worship service for Christmas with scripture readings, hymns and songs. As always, it was a spiritually uplifting evening. Watch for pictures of this event coming soon!
2007 WELCA Tuscarora Retreat... Tuscarora is a Christian Conference Center located in the foothills of the Pocono Mountains along the Delaware River in Mt. Bethel, Pennsylvania. Some of our WELCA members spent a weekend there in September 2007 sharing faith, fun and fellowship. Click on the first link below to see our most recent pictures.

- Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America is a women’s
ministry that has local, national and international roots and we have an active
unit here at Holy Cross. Christian fellowship is its hub with its
spokes being service projects, outreach commitments, study of God’s
word, prayer and interchurch activities. All women at Holy Cross are members of WELCA.
