Our Sunday morning worship starts off with announcements and prayer requests, followed by the Children’s Sermon (approximately 9:15 am) after which the children are dismissed to go their classes.
Place: Our classes are scattered throughout our Church building, with the children being assigned to a classroom based on their age / school grade.
Registration: Anytime! We begin registering children for the new Fall semester in August, but if you are reading this and it happens to be December - don’t worry! We welcome your child at any time. You must fill out a registration card and one of our Sunday School Superintendents will be in touch. If you come on a Sunday and don’t know what to do, speak to an usher - they will show you the way. If you have a child that needs special services, please let us know in order for us to accommodate them. There are no fees for Sunday School enrollment.
Our Sunday School Superintendents Lauren Rogers and Jennifer Hecker are both daughters of the congregation. Both have college degrees. Both have backgrounds in education. Both have been active in the ministry of HCLC for years. Both are highly capable, organized, creative, caring, and love children. Do you get the picture? They are a great team with tremendous talent. Thank you God for their giftedness. Drop by the Sunday School office downstairs off the Fellowship Hall on Sunday mornings and say hello.

SUNDAY SCHOOL REGISTRATION... is an ongoing thing. If you have not registered your child for Sunday School we are asking you to do so as soon as possible. Don’t forget to update your records; address , e mail, marital or family status changes, allergies etc. Please remember, SS goes through grade SIX with Confirmation beginning at the 7th grade level. It is important that you give your child a strong foundation to build his or her life upon. Do not neglect this important aspect of your parenting gift and responsibility. They need you to help them grow spiritually. What better place than Holy Cross to do this?
NOVEMBER 23rd - Operation Christmas Child...
We’ll Be Collecting Filled Shoeboxes on Sunday November 23rd!
It is once again time for Operation Christmas Child. Samaritan’s Purse, a Christian outreach organization, distributes millions of shoeboxes worldwide – filled to overflowing with gifts from generous people like you to children in 95 countries. Using a simple gift-filled shoebox and the Good News of God’s love, Operation Christmas Child brings joy and hope to children in desperate situations around the world and introduces them to the story of God’s greatest gift, Jesus Christ. During distributions, children are offered colorful storybooks that present the Good News of Christ in over 70 languages. Once again, our Sunday School children are preparing these shoebox gifts to share and we invite the congregation to join in. Please bring your filled shoeboxes to church no later than Sunday morning, November 23rd.
We will be collecting shoeboxes on Sunday, November 23rd during morning Worship services.
(Shoeboxes may be dropped off at an earlier date downstairs in the Sunday School office.)
Sunday School News
CHANGE IN OUR WORSHIP... because so many children are involved in our Sunday School program and our worship we are having a difficult time settling down in worship and getting the children off to class in a timely fashion, which limits their learning experience. BEGINNING October 19TH the children will leave for SS class immediately following the Children’s Sermon WHICH WILL TAKE PLACE AFTER GATHERING THE PRAYERS AND BEFORE THE ENTRANCE HYMN (first hymn). Those parents that need to escort their children to class will have ample time to return to their seats and go deeper in the worship experience. If you want to keep your child in with you for any part of the worship service, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO DO SO. These changes are to help you worship and if that includes your child, so be it.
CHANGE IN THE SUNDAY SCHOOL PROGRAM... we are creating a special innovative 5th/6th grade class led by several teachers and will involve multi-media, service projects and activities. It is called LIVE BIG CLASSES. Do you want to live BIG for Jesus? Want to live your faith out loud, and BIG in the world? Come learn HOW to do it and then DO it! Click here to go to the LIVE BIG page.
EASTER ALLELUIAS... Our Sunday School students celebrated Easter with the release of the quilt pictured here. Each year at the start of Lent, our students, with the help of Pastor Raggie and the congregation “bury” the Alleluia under the altar until it is released in glorious voice on Easter Sunday. This year the newly released Alleluias were revealed in the form of an Easter quilt. Thanks to all our students, to Miss Jenn and Miss Lauren, our SS leaders and to Jenn Hecker and Suzanne Brady for assembling the quilt.
