Parish Maintenance Ministries (PMM) is the volunteer group at Holy Cross
which cites, oversees and accomplishes the maintenance work on our
church building, our parsonage and our grounds. A core of congregation
volunteers works to assure that projects are completed and that
contracted work is professionally accomplished. Parish Maintenance Ministries News
WOW, WE, YOU, DID IT... your response to the RPL letter was outstanding. We have what we need to get the work done. It should happen toward the end of August. We thank you for your help in taking care of our church home and campus.
CHURCH HALL WAY PAINTED... a fresh coat of paint and the hallway looks brand new. Thanks to the young adults of our congregation. Special thanks to Kelsey Lohsen and Katt Burkart who spear-headed the whole operation.
OIL TANKS HAVE BEEN REMOVED... This was a massive undertaking which Buck Barba stepped up to get done. He was able to get much of what he needed for this project for free or at minimal cost. What a blessing. The EPA was on site as the work was being done. Amazingly, 100 gallons were rescued out of the tanks before they were removed and will be used for the parsonage. We are deeply thankful to Buck and Val Barba for getting this done.
NOTICE ANY CHANGES RECENTLY?... For many of you, of course you have! The Rock Solid Vision Plan (RSVP) embarked upon several years ago has entered its final stages. New lighting, new altar area, a fresh coat of paint, new chairs, refurbishing of the Narthex (lobby) of the church, new carpeting, angled pews and carpeted movable platforms all help us to more effectively do our ministry. Still there are things top be finished... it takes time. On the drawing board is: some new church furnishings, up-grading of the sound system, all new media system. Your generous commitment to our RSVP program has helped make this happen. The versatility in the worship space has given us opportunities to create more intimate worship services. I addition, we have been able to use the back of the church for meeting space and Confirmation classes.
AN UP DATE ON THE ROCK SOLID VISION PLAN... The new pulpit is in and has been stained to match the rest of the wood. It looks beautiful! The new kneeling cushions in. The new dimming system for the lighting has some bugs in it from the manufacturer. As soon as they are worked out (in the next 6 months or so) this system will be installed. We are still working on adding banners and replacing or refurbishing the torches.
WHAT ELSE NEEDS TO BE DONE FOR RSVP?... It is our goal to have the choir down front in the chancel (altar area) as often as possible with the guidance of Kenny Zagare our Music Minister. With this in mind we are purchasing a digital piano which can create various sound dynamics. The additional platforms have been layered and chairs have been placed atop the platforms to create the choir space. We want to have the bells play in the chancel area too! A wooden cabinet, with a lock, (the same coloring as the pews) has been purchased for the sound board and computers and is now strategically placed in the nave. The multimedia system and sound system will be worked out and installed within the next few months. We will use a temporary media system for in the meantime as we have been doing for our 6:00pm Sunday worship.
SEATS FOR SOULS... the additional chairs we need are in and in use. Would you like to purchase one in honor of someone or in thanksgiving for someone or something, or in memory of a loved one? The cost is $65. We have not forgotten... we will be creating a wall plaque with the names from the first 50 chairs purchased as well as these most recent ones. Give a lasting gift.

Parish Maintenance Ministries Opportunities
PMM continues to cite and plan our property upgrades and repairs. Many projects are on the horizon for 2007. Volunteers are PMM’s core and we need your help and your expertise to accomplish this ministry’s vital work. Do you have a skill we could use? Would you like to donate your time and talents?
THERE ARE SMALL PROJECTS AROUND THE CHURCH... that need to get done this summer, do you have some time? The gutters have to be cleaned ASAP to prevent lower level leaks. We have two exterior doors that need to be painted. They are already primed. We have a small wall area and a door that needs to be primed and painted, in the entrance way to the church. Cabinets need to be hung in the Sacristy. The cracks in the parking lot pavement need to be sealed. (We are trying to hold off on repaving the parking lot for as long as we can). Ceiling tiles in the fellowship hall need to be replaced. Can you help? Call the church office day or night and let us know and Billy Q. will be in touch with you.
If you would like to join us in this important ministry, please contact Billy Quaresimo, our PMM Chairperson, through the church office at 631-588-9509.
