“Trust in the Lord with all your heart,

and do not lean on your own understanding.

In all your ways acknowledge him,

and he will make straight your paths.”

Cross.wmf (1830 bytes)Holy Communion - As we celebrate Holy Communion, we reflect on the awesomeness of God. It is a time of spiritual renewal - a time to give thanks for the gift of His Son Jesus Christ. It is a time to meditate, pray and reflect on our spiritual journey. At Holy Cross, all who believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior are welcomed to the table for Holy Communion. You do not have to be a member here, but you do need to be a Christian - that is a believer in the Triune God; God the Father, His Son Jesus Christ our Savior, and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Come and be fed, nourished and sustained. Jesus offers himself in this meal.

First Holy Communion... First Holy Communion is usually celebrated in October, after completion of First Communion classes in the weeks before. This year (2008/2009) due to calendar conflicts, First Communion classes have been pushed back to January, with First Holy Communion being celebrated in February 2009 (see below).

SCHEDULING CRUNCH... Due to Pastor’s very crowded schedule, she will not be able to hold First Communion Classes until the middle of January. She feels very strongly that it is something she should and needs to and wants to teach but there isn’t an uninterrupted time in her schedule until mid January. So hang in there 5th graders....your time will come. In the meantime enjoy the new style of Sunday School.

First Communion classes are usually offered on Monday nights and on Saturdays to allow families some flexibility. (You may choose the set of Monday classes or the set of Saturday classes, but you must attend both classes in the set. If you miss the first Monday class, you must attend the following Saturday class.) Pastor Raggie will be the instructor. Watch your mail, e-mail, the Parish News, the morning announcements and this web site for dates and details.

A letter will be sent home to all 5th grade families (and any other students needing Communion instruction) prior to the start of classes with additional information. Please contact Barbara Drewes, our Church Administrator, in the church office at 631-588-9509 if you have not received your letter or if you need to sign your child up for First Communion instruction.
